Running Away ..

At times my mind goes blank..
My heart sinks into immense darkness..
A pang of guilt..
Me being the reason of your dis comfort..
I respect your choices..
You want your way..
But u got to listen to what I say..
All u hear is noise..
And u continue to go your way..
All you leave behind..
Is a broken me..
Who is stuck in between letting go..
Or give us a chance or two so..
Not sure if I can anymore..
Not sure I can understand myself some more..
Not sure i can repair my broken ego..
Not sure if you take things real slow..
I took the route to run away..
So u at least be happy n gay..
I have  forgotten to be myself around u..
Needing to process myself times not few..
I may run..but i want u to stop me..
And know my thoughts the way i see..
All I need is that twinkle in ur eye..
When u meet me..
That beautiful wide smile..
You give me..
That yearn to talk more often..
Laughs and jokes..gossip like old times..

I know I ask for too much..
Which u may do or not as such..
I maybe silent now..
Coz all I want is..
Is for you to get ready and come for me..

Till then..I just keep running away...

The Message

I opened my eyes. My head was throbbing. My body was aching in pain. I made an effort to shift but failed. I found myself dripping in sweat. It was bloody hot and stinky. Slowly I started recognizing my surroundings. I was at the back of a Pajero. I realized I was in some sort of accident. I couldn’t think clearly. Everything appeared blurrish. I reached out my hand feeling the door .. I presumed. I pulled out the handle and off opened the door and I fell down, my face flat on to the sand. Ouch!

I pulled myself together and sat up. Wow! All I could see was stretches and stretches of sand and behind me the empty abandoned Pajero. What happened? Where were everyone? Why was I left here? God I needed answers.. And now I needed to get help.

I got up and chose a direction to walk. It was tough to walk in this sand. The sand was burning hot and the sun above was not at all helping. I needed water. Wait, the Pajero. I turned back and hurried to the vehicle. I strip searched the Pajero, no phone, no radio but found a small bottle of water. Lord , you helped me there. That got some strength in me. I got out and walked out, determined to find a way out.

I walked and walked ..at times sank in deep sand. My feet was so burnt that I lost my sensation. My heart was leaping that I thought I would vomit it out. My breathing was becoming irregular and I was nauseous. I needed serious help.

What a place..was this hell? Did I die? My mind raced through all the sins I had committed. From all the stories I heard heaven had angels for company and hell some devils. Here there was not a single soul around. Even the sight of a camel would’ve made me jump with joy. I found myself crying out loud. I was being punished by some inhumane idiot. Why Lord , why.

I heard a gentle whistling in my ears. I could feel a light breeze. Nothing cool about it though. It started getting stronger and stronger and grew into a full blown storm filled with sand. A sand storm, all what I needed now. I couldn’t move any further, it was so strong. My knees gave away and I knelt down. I couldn’t give up. That was not me. My head bent down, as if it was a becoming a burden to me. My eyes were trying to remain opened with all effort. And then.

Amidst the wind, I saw a silhouette. In the far distance. My energy levels which had gone down the drain, flew right back in and I screamed. ‘Hey!’

I got up forgetting my sorry state and ran to the person I saw. As I closed in nearer and nearer, I realized it was my college classmate,Shikha. Why was she here? All sorts of questions were racing through my mind. To hell with those, right now she was God sent and I needed her help. ‘Shikha!’ I screamed. ‘Shikha, stop.’ I never seemed to get her attention and I was nowhere getting closer to her. Strange. She was somehow faster than me. I screamed and screamed. Tears of desperation streaming down my face.

Suddenly she stopped. I halted. She turned and smiled. And started walking towards me. I thanked my luck and the Lord and wiped my tears. When I saw that!

A large ditch was right in front of here. The sands were swirling. I panicked. I yelled at her to move out. ‘Shikha stop, you will fall down.’ I quickened my pace to try to stop her. The ditch was getting bigger. Now what’s this? What’s happening to this place. A ditch appears from nowhere and this girl is acting stupid. Can’t she see this? I ran screaming like a maniac and there she was walking towards me smiling. No no Shikha, I can’t lose you, I need you to help me out. I was yelling, screaming, kicking out and this idiot was hell bent on falling.

For a second I saw her and the next second I could see her outstretched hand popping out from the sand. My ears were tuned in to a faint sound of ringing which was getting louder and irritating. I jumped to the edge of the ditch and held out my hand. ‘Here hold my hand.’ But I couldn’t do anything, the sand was burying my only hope and I was drowning in the strange ringing sound. I was out of breath, voice..hope..life..

‘Nisha..wake up!its time to go’ I opened my eyes and woke up. I looked around. I was in my hostel room and my friends were getting ready. ‘Are you ok?’ my roommate Meena asked. ‘You are sweating like a pig.’ I looked down and touched myself. It was a dream. Damn right. It scared me like hell and why was Shikha in it yaar?

I dressed up , took my books and went down. I reached the front door and I noticed Shikha getting down from the hostel jeep along with the warden. I looked at her and nodded my head. She just quietly walked inside, avoiding my glance, with the warden tagging behind her. I confronted the warden and asked her what happened. She said ‘Shikha had a minor stroke last night . We took her to the emergency unit nearby and later down to the main hospital in the city. There they confirmed she has a rare disease which affects one in a 1000. The stroke was just a start. But the more permanent effect was she suffered a hearing loss on her left ear as of now. Going forward , she will turn completely deaf .Poor thing. God knows what plans he has in store for her.’The warden walked to her room shaking her head.

I sat down shocked. Shikha was in the dream for a reason. It was a message ..loud and simple and not very pleasant .. Something I will never forget for years to come..

Let it go..

My patience is tested forever..
I wait for the moment never to come..
I pine on my hopes..
Letting it fade every second of delay..
I smile my pain away..
I fold my fingers tight..
I sigh in exasperation..
I think of time wasted..
I get all sorts of assumptions..
For a moment my pain turns to anger..
I think of all what's to revenge..
To avenge my pain and humiliation..
I detail it out..
I think of my brilliancy..
Then pop comes the question..
Is it all worth?
the moment i lose it..
I think the easy way out..
I always love challenges..
So i say to myself..
Just Let it go..

We get the unexpected..

We get the unexpected..
At a time when u are in your crazy zone..
We get the unexpected..
When the coffee goes cold n we are still busy..
We get the unexpected..
When we go into the manager's cabin..
We get the unexpected..
We you cross all hurdles to reach ur goal..
We get the unexpected..
When we see the face of that amazing voice you heard on call..
We get the unexpected..
When you get the surprise ping of a long lost friend..
We get the unexpected..
When you simply open the door..
We get the unexpected ..
When you help a colleague in need..
We get the unexpected..
When you love your friend endlessly..with no expectations..
We get the unexpected..
When we decide to just let ourselves flow with life..

What's with me..

I stare into the far..
Thinking what's with me..
I think of a relapse..
But then will that work..
I think what's with me..
The sound of laughter..joy..
Or the sprays from a waterfall..
I think what's with me..
I crave for a birds soft cooing..
Yearn to be in the waves of the blue sea..
I think what's with me...
My mind has questions..
Which may not have answers..
I think what's with me..
My mind worries..plays games..
Creating unnecessary fears..senseless..baseless
I think..
I need peace..mostly with myself..
Should end the war..i wage with myself..

I think..not to think anymore..

The Last Time We Met..

“Hey Neha!I was joking..Dun take me serious ok?You need rest..so tc!” I looked at this whatsapp message and smiled. This was from Divya..We just had our usual bout of banter before I retired into the night.Divya..is my BFF..no my sister..no..we have a complicated relationship.

We started off as a Senior-Junior relationship in college, moving on to friends by the time she passed out. I still had two more years after that before I found my exit from college. She travelled off to Dubai to be with her parents and got herself a job. We kept in touch through the then trending gmail. I used to wait for my breaks during college to rush off to the computer lab to check my mails or rather to check if she had sent one. We rarely ever talked on phone but I couldn’t complain since ISD calls were actually quite expensive that time. We weren’t close back then. I was simply smitten by her talent and her fierce independence, something which was common in us. I didn’t know a thing about her other than what she showed and I never knew how much she knew about me. One thing was common and that was we enjoyed each other’s company and we wanted to retain that. And there was something in her which I missed the most in my life..the love and care of an elder sister.

She married Rahul, a handsome young software engineer when I was in my last year of Btech something which I was looking forward to since I could catch a glimpse of her and I was anxious to see my Jiju(not technically though). BUT, it was right when I had my 7th semester exams and that’s that, I couldn’t attend her biggest event in life. Life moved on, and I passed out with a job at Pune.She..at Bangalore. We messaged and emailed and rarely called. She was busy with her new life and me, caught up with the inhumane world of IT corporate and my then fiancĂ©e Shiv.

Shiv became the reason I met Divya after a gap of two years..at my marriage. Even though I met her amidst the rush of relatives clogging around us and the photographers, I could see she was really happy to see me and I…I was elated.. and that was the last to meet her for many years to come..
Marriage to Shiv brought me to Bangalore along with a new job. One thing which made me closer to meeting her. Even though we contacted each other somehow we had the excuse of never meeting. She was busy with Rahul’s and her Master study plans in Germany and I was busy with my job and my new found love of my life , Shiv.

Down the lane when I settled down with my life at Bangalore, I got a call one fine day from Divya saying she was leaving to Germany. I held the phone for a long time . Her words pricked right at me with the fact, I was never going to see her any time near future. I regretted every minute of not seeing her when we right next to each other at the same city and when she was leaving I was reeling in guilt and most of all , immense sadness.

Thanks to technology and with the android devices making a rave in the market with their wide set of apps for internet messaging and free calls , I kept in touch with Divya. We were in two different worlds altogether, she reliving her student life with Rahul and me turning into an absolute corporate material. We messaged each other almost every day , getting closer and closer. She became a part of my life and I saw in her an elder sister.

With the time difference of almost 4 hours., we hardly video called and rather made use of whatsapp to the fullest. Gradually whatsapping her made it part of routine and we shared a lot of views on many different matters, each learning a new thing from each other. I messaged her pics, videos of things connected to my life and she did the same too. We always made plans to meet but our life situations and this distance made it almost impractical.
In fact I had even reached Germany along with Shiv and was hoping to meet her this time. But, it turned out she was held up with her exams and couldn’t make it for me. Well I had my exams on her important day and she made it to mine. So I guess that called for a tit for tat from life itself. I left Germany heavy hearted.

Time flew down, Shiv and I relocated to the US. There we were gifted with Dhruv, our son . My job at the US required most of my time, with meetings and calls and ofcourse the time with Dhruv. I personally traced every life step of Dhruv and all that took a toll on me. I had no time for friends or any kind of entertainment. But my whatsapp messages to Divya never stopped. I looked forward to that time when I could finish all my work , sit down on the sofa with a hot cup of light green tea and type away my days history to Divya. She would send me pics of her daughter Maya. She is an angel and both their tactics and tantrums were hilarious. Maya is a photocopy of Divya and extremely talented just like her mother. I was never left out of her life and she would sweetly call me her chitta or little mother as we call in our mother tongue.
One thing remained..for years together..we had never met ..yet.
I had a passion for writing and I always wanted to release a book of my own. Divya used to tease me about me releasing a book and getting rich and famous..that I should write one and I used to never take that seriously. I used to write small stories and publish on my blog and Divya used to paint whenever she could and we reviewed each other’s work. Infact, I have even have some stories written with her painting as the cover and theme. We were hardcore critics LOL.

Out of the blue, I started writing, when Dhruv had started going to school. It took years, but I did complete one and sent off to my friend who worked in a publishing house. They liked it immensely and decided to roll it off.  I had kept this as a secret from Divya and wanted to surprise her with my first copy.
I received the first copy , in which I wrote a message and couriered it off to Divya..

March 6, is my mother’s birthday and I wanted my book to hit the stands on that day. I flew in Shiv’s and my parents for the grand book launch. A small party was organized by Shiv along with the press conference. A premier launch of the books was done beforehand itself and I had received good reviews from the critics. Now I was ready to bring it out to the audience. I was nervous and excited.
Something or rather someone was amiss in this excitement. Divya. She would’ve been the happiest. But as I said, it wasn’t possible. Her being here..but I wished some miracle could happen. And it did..

Among the people lined up for the book signing, I saw a girl dressed in a pink frock , neat and spotless. She caught my eyes . She had her head turned sideways but seeing that girl, my heart raced off again and I was having this electric feeling going on inside. I knew her..she looked very familiar.. Maya. No cant be.No no..Maybe she looked like her..then she turned and she smiled and said..Chitta..I got up from my chair and ran to her. I hugged her tightly as if she was my own little daughter. Shiv came to my side smiling along with Rahul. I hugged Rahul too, God knew what I was thinking..AWKWARD..but I was crazy..excited..happy..because finally she came..to meet .We could meet.
I searched the entire hall and there she stood staring at a huge banner of the book cover. I quietly went and stood next to her. ‘Hmm..’ she murmured. ‘You released a book with my painting as your cover.’ I looked at her. ‘So?’ I asked smiling. She outstretched her palms and said ‘My credits please.’ We cracked up laughing. At that moment I realized, I was standing with someone whom I was seeing after long long years and yet I felt as though it was just the day before we had parted. I thought I had a 100 things to say to her when we met, but apparently we knew each other so well that there was nothing to say. I hugged her tightly for a long time. For me , just that faint green screen of whatsapp was not enough. I wanted her with me , by my side , as my buddy and sister throughout my life.

That was not possible and after a week they flew back. But that week was the most incredible week I had in my life. Maya and Rahul bonded well so did Rahul and Shiv. I was stuck to Dhivs as a leech never letting her out of my sight. Maya was an incredible girl very matured for her age and we had our moments too.

The last day was a heavy day for me and Dhruv , both not wanting our friends to go. I asked Divya, ‘Why did you come down now?’ She smiled and said ‘You sent me the first copy of that book even before you send one to your mother. In that note you wished my presence. You published my work without my consent. And I missed you long enough. Are these reasons enough? Or u need me to lie more?’

So that was that and we continued with our life again..only difference I had a three book deal also , with the first one being a hit. With my biggest critic Divya..its a piece of cake . Is it?hmm..satisfying her would be more challenging than a 1000 readers..

I typed just a ‘Gn’ and pressed the send button on my whatsapp to Divya…

That night....

I looked at my friend, Diya who was at the driver seat of her Mercedes, no sorry, her precious Merc. She was high and happy. We were returning from a small party including my close friends and me, thrown by Diya herself. Occasion- I had received my visa to US and I was to travel by the month end. I was the only one sober, others hooting and singing away. I was annoyed at Diya, for driving the car under the influence of alcohol and Diya was aware of it. She continued singing away which irritated me even more. I always stood by rules and Diya..well..never. She faced life as if there was no tomorrow. And me? Lived all my life following principles, rules and my mom’s dreams. Diya and I argued a lot on this. Diya..my chuddy buddy..since 5th grade. Only daughter of Mr. Natesh P ,a popular businessman in Bangalore, a simple , billionaire! So Diya had no qualms in spending any amount on herself and..me. I would never accept anything from her, my ego obviously, which she of course didn’t care about.
I was looking at the speedometer. It was a constant 130-140. I was getting tensed. I offered to drive a million times. Diya hated babysitting and was stubborn to give me the wheel. I turned away and looked outside. I thought about my struggle at the office to get my visa and the drama I had staged. Finally I did  it and I was happy. I whistled to myself, treating myself to be easy for once. It was dark outside and raining hard. I again looked at Diya and the speedometer. Somehow both of them were getting better at annoying me now and then. Diya looked at me and said: ‘Nisha, chill man! Loosen up for once!’ Suddenly Susan, my colleague, who was also in the car at the back, screamed ‘LOOK OUT!!’ We both looked ahead and amidst the rain I saw a faint figure on the road. I watched in horror as Diya slammed the brakes and the car skidded. ‘THUD’ came the sound as we hit that figure. The car swirled around and hit the divider and stopped. I jumped out of the car and ran out to check what we had hit. Just as I feared, we had hit a person, a woman. She was lying on the road, in a pool of blood, her back facing me. I felt a throbbing pain at the back of my head and my left arm was numb. But I managed to kneel down and just when I was about to touch her, Diya tugged at my arm “Nisha, Come on! Let’s go from here before any one sees us. Susan and Akki (Akriti , another friend who was with us) are hurt and we need to get ourselves to a hospital. We don’t need a case now, Dad will kill me!Lets go and ..’ she went on and on as she led me away from the scene. I barely heard what she had said. I was looking at that body on the road, my heart plunging into guilt and my ‘always right ‘ subconscious nudging me to take that woman to the hospital. By then people had begun gathering and we got into the car and scooted.
I woke up two days later at the hospital, feeling wobbly and woozy. I saw my parents looking anxiously at me along with my brother, Nihal. Diya was at the other end of my bed , her arm in a sling and a band on her head, probably from a head wound at the accident. Suddenly my thoughts went back to that night. ‘Diya, that girl..that girl..’ I started. Diya stopped me half way ‘Nisha, come on , you are stressed and you need rest ,so stop speaking and go to sleep.’ I felt she was right since I had already began feeling sleepy and dozed off slowly as I heard my mom asking Diya , ‘what girl, which girl’ ..
I woke up again, this time to see Diya only. I looked around and saw no one else. ‘I sent them home. They were here for two straight days and they needed to take a break. I told I will look after you.’ ‘hmm’ I murmured and sat up. I was kind of not wanting to sit alone with Diya. I was angry with her. ‘Listen, Nisha. I have no idea about that girl and neither am I interested. No one else knows about her except you and me. Let’s keep it mum. If this news leaks, media will link this to Dad and I don’t want that. ’ ‘What? You are talking about your Dad ? What about that girl? What if she is dead? Do you realize that we would be freaking murderers??’ I was hysterical. ‘Shushh…’ Diya hissed. ‘You will let the whole world know?’ ‘That’s it’ I said. ‘Get out!’ Diya was taken aback. ‘What?’ she asked , her voice barely audible. ‘Ya you heard me. Please go. I really need some time alone.’ Having said that I turned and shut my eyes down. I was so mad. Mad at her. I loved her all right, because despite all the spite , she had some humanity. And now? It’s vanished. No, I needed some time to clear my head. I heard my room door open and shut.
I got discharged from the hospital a week after. As soon as I reached home, I changed to some cleaner clothes and left home, amidst all the cacophony at home for me not being well and all. I took my scooty and raced to that exact, same spot, yes! Where I last saw her body. I stood there. It was midafternoon and the roads were filled with trucks and cars speeding down, since it was a highway. I looked around and I couldn’t see anybody I could recognize from that night. I returned home.
For the next three days, I kept returning back to the same spot. I stood at the same spot, stared and then came back. On the fourth day, I heard someone stand by me when I was at the spot. I looked up. A very pretty girl was standing by me, her left open, a yellow kurti and off white leggings. She had worn long earrings and her face was so perfect as if she was fresh out of a painting. ‘Listen’ she said. ‘What are you doing here every day? What’s so interesting that you see here on this spot?’ I got scared. But I regained my composure and said ‘That’s none of your business’ I said haughtily. She smiled. ‘Do you know, there are people who are regulars here, including me, and it’s pretty weird seeing you come here, stare at this spot and then go away. Some people are also saying , an accident had happened at this very same spot and a girl was almost killed. Do you have anything to do with that?’ ‘Almost? She didn't die?’ I asked, but almost too quickly. She said ‘haa.. So you do have something to do with it. Did your car hit her? Did you see which car at least?’ and she bombarded me with questions. I ran to my scooty , started it while she continued stalking me with her questions while I sped away.
I reached home and went up to my room. Her questions were pummeling my brains. I noticed I was sweating. ‘Nisha..NISHA!’ I turned to see my mom. She was holding a plate of some toast and milk. She looked worried. ‘What happened beta, tell me. You look flustered.’  I didn’t say anything.
For the next two days, I didn’t go to that spot thinking of someone else coming to bother me around. I started going to office and gradually things were getting ok for me. My day of travel was nearing. I wasn’t still talking to Diya and neither she was interested in calling me. Twice I picked up my phone to whatsapp Diya, but then thought otherwise.

One day, while returning from office, I came down the same road where the accident had happened. I slowed down at the same spot and when I looked ahead I saw that girl again. It was as if she was expecting me. She came to me. ‘Hello. I scared you off last time. Let me not this time. Hi, I am Medha. What’s your name?’ I hesitated. Should I leave or stay? I switched off my engine, took a deep breath and said ‘Sorry for running off last time. My name is Nisha.’

We hit off good and from that day we met everyday for the next three days.  Infact, I liked her.She had a way of talking less and listening more. She was very patient unlike Diya and I was getting comfortable with her. One day we chatted about that night. I felt good talking to somebody about that night, to someone who would not judge me and just simply listen, I even talked about Diya shushing me. I really didn’t know why I was spilling all the beans to this person, one I didn’t know much, but somehow, I craved for some peace. Someone to tell me I didn't do anything wrong. I ranted and then kept quiet, waiting for Medha to tell something. ‘Did you visit her at the hospital?’ she asked. I shook my head. She said ‘Let’s go there.’ I denied. She insisted. I denied and left her.

Again the next day, she insisted. I denied again. The following day, I relented and together we went to the hospital. We checked for the accident victim at the reception and found she was at the ICU. We walked towards the ICU. I could see people seated outside the ICU. ‘ There she is. Anjali’s mom.’ Medha pointed out. I turned and asked. ‘Who is Anjali? Is that her name? And how do you know her mother?’ Medha said ‘Her pic was all over the paper!’ ‘Hmm, possible’ I said. I walked towards the mother and introduced myself as Anjali’s friend. Her mother gathered herself up. I looked at her sad, disheveled face probably from days of crying. She folder her hands to a Namaste and fresh tears rolled out.  ‘Since 15 days I am waiting for my daughter to wake up and call me.’  Apparently she was still in comma. Behind Anjali’s mother, I saw another pretty face of a nine year old. She was Aarti, Anjali’s little sister as introduced by her mother. I looked at the little one and smiled. I beckoned her to come and gave her a toffee I had with me. She gave me a small smile and took the toffee. Anjali’s father was out collecting money for his daughter’s operation, which was now a daunting task her entire family was facing. Anjali was unemployed and didn’t have a medical insurance. I was so over whelmed, that I started crying and hugging Anjali’s mom. Medha was standing there all this time, letting me do all the talking. After sometime, I turned around to go and I found Medha missing.Shit! I didn't have her number!

I got out of the hospital, took my scooty and drove straight home. I couldn't get Anjali’s mom’s face out of my mind. I had to do something. After all I was responsible for this. I made up mind, to go to Diya’s house, not to see Diya, but her father.

Natesh uncle, Diya’s father was a reputed businessman. He was very temperamental and was known to be outspoken. Diya was outright scared of him, what with the military regime they follow at home. I rang the doorbell. The door was open by one of the 100 maids he had at his home. They recognized me quickly and informed Diya, who came sprinting down the stairs. ‘Hiya bestyy…I knew you would come looking for me..’ she said coming down. I avoided her and continued towards her Dad’s study room. It was a Sunday, and I knew her Dad would be at his study doing something or the other. Diya stopped me , but I just shoved her aside and continued. Suddenly I was pulled back by my hair by Diya and punched. I was furious and punched her back.’ You can’t go in there.’ She screamed. ‘I need to do this’ I insisted, trying to save myself from her powerful blows. The cat fight continued until uncle himself came out and took us both into his study room. ‘Now tell me , what’s going on with you two. You two are obviously not getting along well.’ I looked at Diya. ‘She wouldn't budge from there until I ask her to. You go ahead and tell me.’
I blurted out to uncle everything. He listened and remained silent. He looked at us both. ‘Thank you Nisha, for bringing this up to me. Now go home and don’t tell anyone else about this. I will see what can be done from my side.’ Rest assured, I went back home, bruised, by my best friend. I smiled, but I felt a lot lighter.

I went to the hospital the next day to see Anjali’s parents. They looked better and happier. I learnt from them that someone had come in and sponsored all of Anjali’s medical expenses. I was very happy. I told them about my travel to USA and sought their blessings. I went back to the spot to find Medha and tell her the news. But she was nowhere to be found. I went to the bus stop to ask about her but they said they knew no one like her. I was puzzled. Maybe she didn’t come here today.

I came back home. For the next couple of days I finished some of the pending work at office and closed my bank accounts here. I called up my relatives and told them of my departure. I still didn't call Diya. I wanted her to call me. Man , she had punched me hard that day. I can’t keep bearing her stubbornness to this extent. Why can’t she call me? I also wanted to meet Medha to thank her for taking me to the hospital and making things easier for me. But somehow she disappeared.

Wednesday morning, D-Day. All my stuff were packed. I loaded my bags and trunks into my Dad’s car. Nihal was my driver today. Just as I was about to get into the car I heard an ‘OYE!’ I looked up. Diya.

‘You would leave without calling me, you sucked up, bitch!’ she yelled. I smiled. My besty jumped towards me , hugged and cried. I knew she was crying out all the guilt and frustration that she had all this time, except for the fact I wasn't there to babysit her this time. I hugged her tight and gave a peck on her wet cheek. ‘I will call you every day from the US yaar. Chill man! Loosen up!’ and we both laughed . My mom closed the main door. I noticed the morning paper lying outside the door. I picked them up and was just about to put them through the window when I noticed a picture.
 Of Medha’s.
I opened the paper and read what was written above her photo.

‘ANJALI’S LIFE SAVED BY UNKNOWN BENEFACTOR. ANJALI UP AFTER THREE WEEK COMA.’

‘What??’ I shouted. ‘Diya, get into the car. Nihal, go to Fortis now.’ ‘Why? What’s happening Nisha?’ Asked Diya and Mom.

We raced to Fortis, thanks to my brother’s reckless driving and I ran to the ICU. Anjali’s mother was coming out of the ICU and stopped after seeing me. ‘Beta, you were supposed to travel today na?’ she asked. ‘Aunty, Can I see Anjali please?’ I pleaded. ‘Beta, only one visitor is allowed to visit the patient during the visiting hours and that's done. I don’t think they would allow anymore.’ I ran to the duty nurse standing by the ICU door side and begged her to send me inside. She didn't allow. Hearing the commotion, the duty Doctor came out. We tried to reason out with him. He looked at me and Diya. He took a long pause before he said ‘Listen lady, only one of you can see her through a glass just outside her bed. That’s all’ I accepted that and went inside.

Inside, I could hear the beeps of the machines at the bedsides in the ICU chamber and the same, strange hospital odor. I was escorted by the Doctor himself. We stopped by the glass near Anjali’s bedside. There she was. Anjali..no Medha.. the same pretty face... how was this possible? How did I meet her, if she was in here all this time? I looked at her long time. She was sleeping, peacefully. The Dr. beckoned me to come out and just when I turned to leave, Anjali opened her eyes.  I stopped. She turned her head towards me. We looked at each other and then….

She smiled…

Forever Love..

"MOM!!" my daughter screamed. She was waiting for her lunch box and I was scurrying up and down to get that done.It was one of the usual days, when I get up at 5am , do my regular workout, wake up my daughters , prepare their lunchboxes, see them off, then get ready to go to office . My husband Vivek works from home as he wanted to concentrate and give more time to his latest venture into the photography business. "Mom!Bye I am leaving..Check out your whatsapp, Arjun uncle has messaged."I paused...Arjun.

Arjun was no relative of mine. If you could believe me , then he was my lover at one point of my lifetime and we were inseparable.Wait! Can lovers be friends now?And Vivek..

I closed my eyes and my mind traveled to the first day of high school. To be exact when I was in grade 8. I was a tomboy. LOL! I was a loud mouth, hanged around indifferently with guys and girls, wore the same pair of jeans for weeks, bullied juniors, tackled seniors, did all what not the perfect bimbos, with pretty hair and legs in my  school would never even dream of doing. It was the English period and I was done listening to Mrs Padma, rattling away tales of Robinson Crusoe. Then the door opened and in walked our Principal, Mr Sheshadari along with a tall, yanky, athletic guy with a very sour face..Arjun.

Arjun, though handsome and built (on whom initially all the pretty bimbos were drooling on) didn't attract many friends. He frowned often, preferred to remain alone and aloof ,a man of hardly any words!. He studied hard and managed to get good grades. He regularly trained at the school sports club. Of course! He ignored me when I approached him.Well!!I had a habit of talking and being friendly with everyone in my class and Arjun's nonchalance was really twitching my nerves. I was hell bent on talking to him. So I tried ..hard..at the school canteen, gym class, science lab.Nope!Nothing worked..so I was like ..what the hell!and I left it.

I inquired about Arjun's past.He was from a well to do family, in fact more than mine. His dad was a prominent businessman. Then what baggage was he carrying?Hmm..My curiosity increased.Once, I got out early from gym class  and while changing at the locker room, I noticed Arjun's bag lying on the bench. I looked around..no one!I quickly grabbed the bag and opened it.I noticed a few bottles of antidepressants and some other unknown medicines.Suddenly I was grabbed by my neck and pushed against one of the lockers.Arjun had locked me in his very strong arms and I was scared to death. He was strangling my neck hard and my eyes met his bloodshot eyes.He screamed "I specifically asked you not to mess with me." And then he released me..grabbed his bag and me..I passed out..

I took time off from school and was at bed rest. I had sores and bruises around my neck and my shoulder muscles were hurting. I was fighting the pain not caused by my physical wounds, but my mental ones.No guy had ever touched me, rather I didn't let them. Tomboy and all..but I never crossed over my moral values imbibed by my parents. I was fuming and seeking a way to straighten out Arjun when my mom knocked the room and called out that I had a visitor.Thinking it was Sasha, my friend, I asked my mom to send her to the room. The door opened and in came..Arjun. My arms caught hold a club that I had placed near my bed and held it tightly. He smiled and calmly took the club out of my hands and gently pushed me to the wall of the bed , against a pillow for support. Fuming tears were pouring out and I was helplessly staring at him."I am sorry Nisha.." he said. I looked away , disgusted, confused as to what to tell him.I wanted to scream..but my sore neck wasn't allowing to."I am a patient. I am undergoing treatment for depression and my frequent bouts of anger. That's why I avoid everyone, especially you. You are special and I don't know why. I don't want anyone to get hurt. Dr said I could get better by indulging myself in games and studies."with that he got up and left. I looked at him go. I was too shocked and  remained silent.I was special? hmm.. My eyes caught a small glint of light from an object on the bed. It was a small bronze coin,of Sri Krishna . He had left it.Why??

"Krishna and Radha, the eternal lovers. One day you would also find one." my grandmother used to say, whenever she used to tell me Krishna tales as my bedtime stories!I used to phoo phoo her and go off to sleep.I remembered that now and today I couldn't go to sleep..Why??

I got well in two weeks and I returned back to school. I hadn't heard from him after that incident.I wanted to talk to him, badly and I caught him at the library. Perfect!I walked upto him, and said "I won't accept your apology and this gift unless we become friends." ."Silence please!" screamed the librarian."Meet me after gym. " I said and rushed out the library.By the way, this was the first time I had set foot in the library!!Thanks to Arjun!
Arjun and me became friends, thick friends. I saw all his sides, both the light and dark shades. We hanged out together everywhere, for studies, games, music classes, gym you name it.He had his occasional bouts of depression and anger which by now I could handle. With time he was using less medicines. We both were acquainted with our parents. My school mates termed our pair as lovers but what we shared was special, a pure form of friendship. We shared every moment we had in our life.We went to the same college and passed out, him with flying colors and me scrapping through.Next..marriage.
My parents were busy on the lookout for a suitable Nair boy for me . I was fine but Arjun was not.He was getting moody whenever I told the tales of how many guys came in to see me."Why is everything a joke for you?" he asked. I stopped laughing and said "Listen!my parents have always done whats best for me.I trust them on this too. Also when time comes, I would definitely get my life partner. You too." "I have already got!" he murmured. I heard that and chose to ignore.Of late, I knew there was some change in Arjun's attitude towards me.I knew he was in love  and wanted to marry me.And I did too.But I never chose to tell him. I didn't want to lose what we had. Romance changed the angle totally and I wanted a friend who could handle my deepest , darkest secrets without  any qualms. Moreover..I wasn't a romantic and I never wanted to be any less than best to my Arjun. Also, a love marriage wasn't a thing my parents would ever support, even though they knew Arjun(castes, society..played a huge importance that time) and I didn't want to bring any change to that.I loved my parents, and I loved Arjun. And Arjun never even once asked me yet. I had made my decision long back..the day he gave me the coin.He knew? What if he had proposed, would I say no?I don't know..Then Vivek came to my life...

Vivek was the chosen suitor for me and he was an uncomplicated, funny man. He soon became the darling of my family and brought a smile to even the oldest and youngest members.I liked him and found him very compatible . He accepted Arjun as my best friend, and with time they became good friends too. Vivek and I got married and together we had Isha and Avni ,my two beautiful daughters. Arjun became their uncle and he frequented our place to be with the girls. He loved my girls and he was wonderful to them. He was still my best friend and I shared everything with him. He hasn't married till today..

I took my mobile and I saw his message."Happy Birthday Nisha!" I smiled . As usual he always greeted me first and Vivek last!!Did it bother me? never!

I opened my drawer and picked up that coin. That coin was the witness when I first fell in love.Deep down, he still was the Krishna for me, my first and last love..and me??Well you know..

A Soulful Sin....

'Do you remember that spot where we used to keep away our stash of all our secret precious things?' my friend asked me.I held her hand tight and smiled.

There I was , looking at my dearest friend Tina, since childhood. While at Sherwood, we were neighbours, friends, schoolmates till I left for boarding after my 10th grade. She chose to stay at the same place, graduated in science stream , got married and had two beautiful children.I left the town to pursue my dream, completed my engineering, became a software developer, got married and settled as a metropolitan.

After my parents left Sherwood, I never did go back there.During the initial years after I left the town, I used to write letters(emails weren't fully prominent then) to Tina , who used to reply animatedly telling about everything happening back then at Sherwood. Further down ..we progressed to emails , but Tina couldn't mail me much as her accessibility to internet was much less.Understandable.. but that gap stayed and the frequency of mails from me decreased over time.I was enjoying a new life, new friends , better style, status while poor Tina regularly mailed me, updating with news from her side. I got caught in the whirlwind life at the city and maybe used to reply her when I felt to.

18 long years passed and one day while sitting idle at the office , I browsed through my personal emails and noticed an email from Tina.It was after a long time. I smiled and opened it.My smile vanished..

Tina was suffering from fourth stage cancer which had spread across her body from her recent bout of breast cancer. She wanted to see me before her feared death.I was numbed and a splurge of guilt flashed all across my face.I had ignored her, all these years..I didn't make any effort to stay in touch with her and I had a folder full of unopened emails from her..I opened the attachment she sent. Her latest photograph with her kids.Gosh..they looked grown up , Matt and Jenna and of course Peter, her husband. She looked shriveled, her hair all gone, the smile still the same..the big earnest one..the one I used to receive when I was 5 and my day started.I shut down my system and made a few calls.Next day I flew down and was by her side.

Sherwood, was a beautiful town. Its skies had the most beautiful colour and brightness and the flora and fauna made it heaven.Be it summer or winter, spring or autumn, it had a rare beauty which I had missed all these years. Now, as I looked around , Sherwood was like any other US city. Neatly made roads, pavements, cottages.Gone were those rickety fenced houses, the unevenly spread woods, the sprawling large , empty lands where we used to camp, cycle, play all our pretend games on.

Tina had a quiet funeral. I stood at the corner, looking at each and everyone paying her their last respects. Many were familiar faces, from my school days. Her family which included her husband, children , her mother Ellie, her sister Mary and few uncles. I looked at her children. Jenna was a splitting image of young Tina and I was having a tough time facing her. I walked out, for some air and into the woods.I was surprised how small the woods had become.I remember we used to be scared of getting lost whenever we used to venture into the woods.I found Mark, Tina's brother and together we walked silently.

Suddenly, Mark took my arm and he said 'Come..you need to see something.' We walked over to a tree, a very old tree sans leaves. It looked old and dying. As I approached it, I could feel a strange sense of feeling coming on to me.My heart beat faster and I looked around.I looked at Mark and he smiled.

Yes ! This was the same , old tree under which Tina and me had stashed away our treasure chest.I bent down and furiously started digging. My handed clinked at a metal and I tugged at it.There came out the chest, still intact. It was handmade by my dad who had made it on my request.I cleared off the dust and took a deep sigh..Mark walked away..I opened it..

There were newspaper clippings, photos..then some clay models which me and Tina had created, few Christmas presents we had given each other..our bad mark cards(LOL!). I picked up the clippings..it was of those in which I had appeared during the International conventions and meetings I had appeared. Then prints of my family which I had mailed her some years back..some facebook pics of me and my husband..pics of her children..their childhood..poems which I had written to her on her birthday.
 Oh Tina!!all this..and I simply didn't know..

I looked up..the breeze whispered sounds into my ears..sounds of her laughter..The branches of the tree under which I was sitting were swaying into a dance..The day was over and the skies had turned a bright orange..into the darkness which I was now being drawn into.I realized what I had lost..leafless..lifeless like this tree..I stared at the chest and tears welled up.I cried out load..my cries drowned in the breeze..I placed the chest back into the same place and covered it up.I covered up the last remains of what I had last of my dearest friend. No ..I didn't want any of them with me..a constant reminder of my terrible soul..I stood and walked a few steps..turned back..There it was..that soulless  tree..like me..holding the memories of the best and worst times of our friendship..I walked away..this time never to turn back..

I am sorry..Tina..Please forgive me..

Marriage..works?

When I go to work,
I meet a jerk..
who is married..
and always worried..

He hates going home..
not that work is his norm.
his wife the show stopper..
a talkative, fat, avid shopper..

he cribs..marriage, it never works..

My phone rings..
a sad story my friend sings..
I dont want to marry she cries..
My life will be all deep fries..

my freedom is gone, she reasons..
busy all seasons..
manage four parents instead of two..
so many things to do..

she cribs..marriage, it never works..

I smile to myself..
these people need help..
I am distracted by another married goose..
ogling at a hot lady with another loose..

Hot Hai yaar!!..he gives a sigh..
wish my wife could die...
I shake my head in despair..
a damage beyond repair..

he cribs..marriage, it never works..

hey gal!!..comes in my pregnant friend..
whose complaints have no end..
of her mother-in-law..her husband or the ever wailing child..
cooking,cleaning nothing too mild..

she cribs..marriage, it never works..

I look at the picture on my desktop..
my hearts skips a beat and a hop..
my life..never under the knife..
because of him..my ever loving man..

marriage..with its ups and downs..
its concepts so twisted because of ignorant clowns..
love and adjustments go on..
its a relationship simply sown..

My phone buzzes again with a ring..
a concerned voice other side coming..
You are late..shall we order something today?
I smile ..he understands , and he knows what I will say..

I say.. marriage for me..it always works....

An Aadhar for me..too!

This is a story but a true one.I felt quite amused to have gone through this day so hence I decided to share it here.

It is the time where taking the Aadhar card is the new hype and everyone was trying to get theirs done irrespective of whether they know its important or not or whether they will actually get a card at the end of it all. Like the voters id, ration card , passport and the umpteen number of cards one take to prove that you are the citizen of India, Nandan Neelkani and his team has introduced a new one to the collection , the Aadhar.

So as to what I was saying, due to the discussions from the family side and pressure form colleagues, I finally relented to take one. Having made my mind the next task was to convince my husband to come with me and get it done. Like I had predicted he had his excuses of completing his sprint and submitting his task and all.(Agile has really got up to him). But I remained firm on my ground and somehow we came up with a convenient time to take the Aadhar card.I arranged the required documents(after vigorous on-line search for all the relevant documents that could be taken). D Day arrived and we set out early as we were warned of the huge crowd that we could expect outside the Aadhar camp. Keeping that in mind we reached the venue at 7 and we found we were the first in queue.(Yay!!But precisely there was a dog first). So we three (including the dog) sat on the steps.Breakfast pangs caught me and I sent my husband off to buy some breakfast while I settled down to read the morning paper. While he was away , an old man and his son arrived on a scooter. The old chap then went to the other side and sat down.I realised the place where I settled down was wrong and slowly got up to go the place the old guy was. I saw something written in Kannada and pasted on one of the two windows that were there.I looked at the old guy who was staring hard at me.I saw an application form in his hands. On that it was written that day's date.I looked at him quizzically. He asked whether I had the application form.I nodded my head to a no.He said you have to fill the form.I turned around to the window to which he was pointing to showing the form.It was written application forms stock was over.Fortunately there was this guy standing there and he asked me whether I needed a form.I readily said yes as I didn't want to waste this one trip to get the card.We got the form for 3 times the amount it was originally sold.I went back to the old guy and started filling the form.By this time Shyam my husband had come with food.I filled the form double quickly and grabbed a bite.I came back to the line to see few more people filling the queue. That's when we came to know that all these people had come a month ago to get the token for this date and here we were with not even the form initially. So we were told to stand in a queue in front of the other window and get the token. We were mentally distressed thinking that we would not get the verification get done today and we have to make another trip for this. Shyam was murmuring his frustrations away about his work and I in turn rolling my eyes. Anyway we formed the new queue with the older one getting bigger and bigger along with more chaos and confusion.Half the queue was filled with the family members and neighbours of the old guy I had met earlier. He had reserved the place for them.Great!!They were enjoying some sort of picnic there singing songs , having all yummy food which got all the mouth watering from my side(:P). A lady tried getting into the middle of the bigger queue(the one for verification) and then people got agitated and pushed the lady away. A policeman who was in the queue came and started getting all into a single line.We got our rightful place in front of the old guy since he knew we had come way early. So we stood at the front and waited for the officer. It wasn't of any surprise when the officer came at 10 when the timings were from 9 am to 5 pm.

Finally the officer came and I submitted the forms. He looked at me and said that I didn't have the token.Immediately I changed my attitude to that of a desperate one and begged him to do the verification today for me and my husband since we will go out of the country next week(So easily the lies came out for me).He relented seeing the long line behind me.He verified my documents and sent me inside for rest of the procedures.I ran inside and sat down at one free counter. The lady there was nice and humble and helped me complete the procedure. Shyam was missing all the time and I found out that his address proof was invalid and that he needed an introduction from my side.So somehow finally his was verified and he came to my counter. There was a section where we had to enter the address proof . Since I introduced Shyam , I was made the head of the family !!hehe...A govt approved one..though he complained I always ruled him anyways...

At last..finally..got done and we held the aadhar card receipts in our hands. We met the old guy who was beaming and saying that we were lucky to get it done today without a token.I smiled at him bemused for he behaved and acted exactly like my father in law, ranting and battering and entertaining everyone all day. We thanked the old man and his family for their support and we rushed off to office..

Being a lady has its effects always.I really don't know what made me say the excuses to the officers or how the officer relented unlike the rude ones we get at Govt offices.But.I am still waiting for the card to be delivered... :)

Nirbhaya..a hope for light!!

A night as normal as any day..
not expecting disaster in any way..
Enjoying a movie with a friend..
not knowing her laughter will cease to an end..

Flowing along with the way of life..
never knowing a pain awaits as a stab of a knife..
never knowing 6 forms of the devil lie in wait..
for the kill of a hunger they needed to add to her fate!

the movie ended..she took steps to hell..
the danger I just wished I could tell..
the bus to hell arrived ..
and up she with her friend climbed..

they pounced on her like an animal..
they were all far from being normal..
the maniacs they were ..to kick, torture and brutally rape..
and throwing her away naked ..like the seed of a grape!!

was it her fault?
to become a victim of this thunder and bolt?
well according to an MP it is..
because she is just not anyone of his..

her vulnerability was used ..
they were thoroughly amused..
uneducated though literate,
cowards showing their prowess , their act so much to hate..

she made up her mind to fight..
holding onto life tight..
an example set not so light..
Raising the bar of self respect to a large height!

Little girls , so new to this world..
being attached and pounced upon, like the spears hurled..
How can you do this to them..
Don't you see a glimpse of your own daughter in that little gem?

wake up India..wake up..
shame is being filled to the brim of the cup..
where men have become animals..women a toy..
females have to suffer from abortion to rape by a boy..

I dream of an India, my land..
where women walk fearless, with people extending a safety hand..
where men and women live in true peace and harmony..
not like the fake evil smiles one finds in a ceremony..

The Rains for me..

The rain at its best,
Giving me the zeal and the zest..
The tune of the rain making a dance,
So fresh, why should I lose a chance..

The drops going plop on my face,
Cooling me off , at a steady pace..
My mind wanders off to my old days,
Where things happened amidst the rain always..

Fun at college, celebrations alive
With the rains, leaving classes and going for the dive..
Cackling like hens, enjoying every bit..
So carefree, never noticing us getting hit or bit!!

But each time in the corner of my eye, I searched for her, my idol
A senior at that time, beautiful and swift, with the thrift of a seagull..
Seeing her in the rains, gives such a feeling of freshness in the air..
We were close, yet so apart, for she was the senior and it wasn’t just fair!

Still I always wanted her to come and talk..
For I was scared and always hid behind a sock..
But life was cool , with her and many a friend,
That I never realised that someday it all might end..

The same rains witnessed it all,
I remember it happening outside the college hall..
Some fight regarding the Arts Day with her best friend..
Earned me a tight slap at the very end..

The whole college was aghast,
The teachers came out fast..
The silence was killing,
And time never ticking..

I was hurt by the act..
My idol never even asked me the fact..
Humiliated in front of all..
Making me look so small..

The rains kept pouring on..
And the crowd had long gone..
But I remained there unmoved and still..
Wanting to jump off the hill..

Should I hate the rain??
No, because one day I get the gain..
Of her apologising for the incident,
10 years later when I met her by accident..

I got back the sister I lost..
And I enjoy the rains at any cost..
This time with her and our family..
Hope time never changes and go to flee…

My Chechi..

When the world starts breaking down for me,
And I have no one to look upon and see..
That’s when a hand comes down on me,
I knew who that was, for there was she..

Her eyes both bright and twinkling..
her lips twitching to smile and sing..
her hair falling of her shoulders..
beautiful and tall ,like on top of some boulders..

standing slim, fit and firm,
she does what she thinks, no matter a term..
her smile makes me strong,
whether no one or someone, to her I belong…

I do anything to make her proud,
Searching frantically for her in the crowd..
Never gives away and says it’s good,
But look into her eyes, her heart is understood!

She’s talented , she learns quick..
Strong and contented, no ill-will and rarely gets sick!
A joke in every line,
And makes it seem everything is fine!

Her beauty is beyond her innocence,
she will never stand any nonsense..
She will demand for justice all the time,
and can be sweet and sour as green lime...

she loves to irritate,
that we will reach up to our patience's gate..
rarely cuddles or gives a hug,
but her eyes shows the place in the heart for me she has dug!

She respects all,
never lets anyone fall..
her laughter sounds of the river flowing,
when happy we can find her face glowing..

Give her a work, she gets it perfect.
Never let anything make her work intersect!
The least of emotions she shows out,
The crazy she makes u, like mary go round the roundabout!

Ultimately she cares ,
And so much she shares..
I love her all the more,
With her around, life never gets any more bore..

So often she smiles, her sadness gives my heart a blister!
Hey do you want to know who she is? She is my elder sister..

A short story-The girl in White(idea by Veena V K)

The Girl In White
The rain was at its best. Best in the sense, for me.  Light, those cool drizzling showers with a breeze. It was as if it was performing a contemporary dance with elegant and soft moves in front of its most avid spectator, me. I was enjoying it along with the timely jolt of the Indian Railways, while it was taking me amongst its hundred passengers to Mangalore, Karnataka from Kannur, Kerala.  The rain was beautiful with Kerala’s breath taking view behind and the backwaters for accompaniment.  My neck was straining looking in a single direction for a long time. So I turned around to look into my compartment. My opposite berth was occupied by a ‘not so large’ family of 10 members trying to cram into that single berth. Whew! Watching them gave me a sweat! They were so noisy clattering, chattering, two babies held up in a “who is going to cry the loudest” competition and munching some snacks away without even considering to offer their fellow passengers (I got hungry after watching them eat!).I realized that I was so engrossed in the rain that I didn’t notice the commotion right in front. Next to me was an old couple, holding hands and sleeping with their mouths open. WOW! How could they sleep amidst this chaos? Anyways I returned to my “programme” and continued staring outside. The train was slowing down at Neeleswaram, Kasargode.  I couldn’t see the station as it was filled with people ready to board this train. Where do all these people come from? Looking at them it looks like the train is the only mode of transportation in India. Ok, if you didn’t get what I am trying to say, just think about the Mumbai locals, full stop. Ok..So the train stopped, the people were boarding and I was looking out for a vendor to come so that I could eat something. I heard someone saying the train stopped only for three minutes and so I was trying to frantically reach out for a vendor. At Last one man came to me (Thank God!) and I paid for his timely service and food. It was indeed a perfect timing for by the time I paid the train had started moving slowly.
Suddenly my eyes caught someone running and shouting on the platform. It was a girl running to catch the train. I heard people murmuring that she will miss it, why she can’t come on time and all but my instincts told me  to get up to the bogie door(which was near me) and stretch out my arms to help that girl. I could hear two things only, the ‘chuk chuk’ of the slowly speeding train and my heart beats going on like the African Drums. The girl reached out to my arms and I pulled her inside. We both fell on the steps but were helped by people who finally came out of their shell shocked state and helped us. I scrambled back to my seat and sat somehow. I realized that I had hurt my leg somewhere. I was about to bend down and look when I heard something like “excuse me”. I looked up and saw the same girl I had saved (her from missing the train). I was expecting a “thank you” instead she said:” Could I share the seat with you?” God, Favor! Will I be sharing space with a camel (it’s a phrase in Malayalam as to will the entire seat be taken by her?) I said Ok and she sat down. I couldn’t help but look at her. She was wearing a pure white salwar kameez (which now got dirty of course!)She had a handbag in which was a white rose (beautiful, haven’t seen one in ages ) and an old mobile phone (in the sense a Nokia 1100) to which she was clinging on tightly. Guess, she also suffers from NOMOPhobia (No mobile phone phobia-Google pls).I scanned her and reached her face. She LOOKED SOO FAMILIAR! Gosh I don’t remember where I have seen her! Where?  Where? As I was thinking I didn’t realize I was staring hard at her when she said “Hmm.. Thanks a lot! For helping me out!” It was meek, but a sincere one and I smiled ( I was happy I got the thanks I deserved! Hello!! and also.. the girl was sweet, pretty and sincere). But the familiarity was haunting me every minute. It was as if I have known her with all my heart but I just can’t get it. I was dying to ask her, but nope. I wouldn’t budge! I started eating and again this time I found the girl staring at me. Well, So I offered her one samosa and she gladly took one. Maybe she was hungry. Anyways it was like a tablet of energy as she started chattering away. I smiled and took my iPod to listen and ease myself for some time. Timely once, I used to peek at her. She was pretty .Her hair left open and smelled nice. It was curled and gave it a typical mallu look. Savoring in her innocent beauty I closed my eyes to sleep.
Suddenly my compartment shook and tilted to one side. I jumped up to a start and realized something real bad had happened and the train had gotten into a mishap. People were running about in the train like mad chickens on fire and the train was slowing turning to one side. I was numbed and scared and suddenly something hit, a fat old lady fell upon me. My head was hurting badly and I could barely stand up! My head was churning around and I wanted someone to save me. I was shouting madly and crying all together. Suddenly, to my utter surprise I saw that same girl in white salwar kameez seated on the berth opposite me, smiling not caring about what is happening around. She was staring at me and smiling .She stretched out her hand to me and I was trying to make some movement of my numbed arms to reach her. My vision was blurring as I was nearing her. My eyes closed off and I blacked out!
I felt drops of water splash across my face and woke up to a start! I realized I was in my painting room and I had dozed off! It was all a dream?? It was so real! I tried to recall the dream and it sent a shiver down my spine! I gawked at what I saw next, that white salwar kameez girl was there right in front of me.. IN MY PAINITING! No wonder she looked familiar! But who splashed that water? I looked around. No one! Spooky! It was raining and the ceiling was leaking! I smiled to myself and got up to wash my face. As I stood up, my leg struck something sharp and as I bent down to look at what was that.. I shivered at what I saw..

It was a white rose..

My training project!

My month long project,
Your skills to eject..
The start of instant hell,
One can’t simply tell!

Google ..my help..
To my mentor I yelp..
So much to learn..
The same we earn..

Day and night we think..
The spirit can’t just sink!
The weekends all gone poof!
Animated like dogs barking woof!

The madness right there..
Confusion everywhere..
Time flying fast..
Any mistake, we go aghast!

The hair count going more,
as we scratch our heads to core..
to get some miracle of our stupid head,
waiting even on our comfy bed!

The days numbering down fast,
We simply dun want to be last..
The entire office like a field..
Running like chickens to get the best yield!

Its over as one gets to grin..
The happiness glowing on the skin..
Waiting to pounce on others yet to do..
Delightfully watching them do the shoo!

Actions

Actions...

Actions are one's deeds,
The result that one seeds
It may be good or be bad,
Makes us happy or sad!

An action can change the way anything is,
Putting nothing at all amiss...
An action however small,
May end up preventing a big fall!

Smile, an action so well accepted,
A frown always badly intercepted!
Kiss, an action of love and pure joy,
Enough to create sparks between a girl and boy!

A pat of congrats,  handshake of glory..
Some action that we always remember and never be sorry..
A brutal kick, even harder push,
Enough to make our heart go around the bush!

Its ok, says a hug,
A lovable lick from a pug
An action makes all the differences we need,
The lift or lack of confidence it does feed!

An action of instance may be the worst or best,
An action may increase or put a problem to rest..
An action may  give the nation a jolt,
An action so soft or strong as that of thunder-bolt!

An action it is every minute..
Only the good we need to see in it…!!!

Relationships

Relationships

Relationships can be so funny,
It can be dark or bright and sunny..
A bond between two,
But being true amongst few!

It’s how the heart plays,
And how the mind slays  ..
At times it may be a pain,
But mostly it keeps us sane!

From mother to father,
From sister to brother!
Respecting relationship is hard to find,
Not necessary they must have the blood of our kind!

Actually, relationships of blood can be so far,
Even when we forgive and keep our hearts ajar..
Only they can make matters worse and big,
Making an easier work for finding graveyards to dig !

A friend loved more than the cousin,
The once loved cousin, now apart, closed like a tin!
Never do they deserve a relationship,
Instead a hundred or thousand of a whip!

Hurt we are, here comes our family friend,
That’s when we realize the world is not at its end!
More than love, relatives prefer to compete,
Always chasing for the top seat!

Who wants them when we have others to value,
Who never expects anything in return, pure like dew!
People we think are far are actually so close,
Just can’t see despite being in the front our nose..

Marriage a ship  made in heaven,
a relationship we give seven on seven!
a relationship recreated with love and care..
where we learn not one,but two to share..

friendship is another one,
with whom we have loads of fun..
a shoulder to trust upon,
to get the love we need and never ever be thrown...

Relationships can be sweet and bitter,
It’s not a compromise, like a baby and its sitter!
Love can do one a many magic,
But that will never be any part of our logic!!

Dictionary

Dictionary

Imagine a world without dictionary,
Nothing could be anymore scary..
A language without knowing a word,
Is like eating that dirty, so sour curd!!

From A for apple, b for boy,
To S for sun, T for toy!!
To own a large one for pride,
But to find a new word, never in our stride!!

To find a word that never sticks to your tongue,
Or in the lines of the song you have sung!
We bow our heads to one of the greatest books,
At least to be kept in the shelves to give some nice, good looks!

From the big sized to the pocket-sized ones,
Wherever you go you have tons and tons!
If ever interested to learn a new word you find,
And share it with others if you ever be so kind!

It helps me with Tamil, and you with French..
If German is the trouble, don’t put it on bench!
The ever ready dictionary is here to help,
Like teaching a puppy to yelp..

The flipping pages, all gone away
The digital dictionary has made its way!
Where finding a word has become so simple,
That it’s quicker than finding out a small face pimple!

Yet just imagine a world without dictionary,
I can’t really think of anything more scary!!!

The fire…

The fire…

The fire within,
The start of sin..
The tempt of risk,
Doing actions in brisk!!

As the fire leaps
The more sick it keeps..
The anger flaming up,
As hot as the scalding hot cup!

The craving for the hits and bangs,
Like the blood thirsty vampires thrusting their fangs
Like the devil possessing us,
On every damn thing, we make a fuss!

Anger makes us bad,
Such that we go mad..
We end up being sad,
We care no one, not even Dad..

Any good from it?
Just think while u sit..
Destruction the highlight,
Losing the loved ones out sight!

Get over the fire,
Never let it wire..
Let us take the control,
And never take the fall!

Set yourself at peace,
Leave that fire to cease..
It’s done with so much ease..
Begging never to light it up,please!!
